AI Ethics Policy

Our principles and commitments for developing safe, transparent, and responsible artificial intelligence.

Last Updated: March 21, 2026Effective: March 21, 2026

1. Introduction

At Cortiqa, we believe that artificial intelligence should augment human capability, not replace human judgment. This AI Ethics Policy outlines the principles, practices, and commitments that guide the development, deployment, and governance of our AI systems.

Our approach to AI ethics is not static. As the technology evolves and societal understanding deepens, we will continue to refine our practices to reflect best practices in responsible AI development.

2. Core Principles

The following principles form the foundation of our approach to AI ethics and are embedded throughout our development lifecycle:

Transparency

We clearly disclose when AI is involved in interactions. Users have a right to know when they are engaging with AI-generated content or AI-assisted processes.

Fairness & Bias Mitigation

We actively work to identify and reduce harmful biases in our AI systems, ensuring equitable outcomes across different user groups and demographics.

Safety & Security

We implement robust safeguards to prevent the generation of harmful, dangerous, or illegal content, and protect systems against misuse and adversarial attacks.

Human Oversight

We maintain meaningful human control over AI systems, ensuring that humans remain responsible for critical decisions and can intervene when necessary.

Privacy & Data Protection

We respect user privacy and process personal data in accordance with applicable laws and our Privacy Policy, minimizing data collection and retention.

Accountability

We take responsibility for the outputs of our AI systems and maintain clear processes for addressing concerns, errors, and harms when they occur.

3. Responsible Development Practices

We integrate ethical considerations into every stage of the AI development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and ongoing monitoring.

1

Ethics Review Process

All significant AI projects undergo ethics review to identify potential risks, harms, and mitigation strategies before deployment.

2

Algorithmic Auditing

We conduct regular internal and third-party audits of our AI systems to assess fairness, accuracy, and compliance with our ethical standards.

3

Adversarial Testing

We employ red-teaming and adversarial testing to identify vulnerabilities and potential misuse scenarios before they can be exploited.

4

Bias Evaluation

We systematically evaluate our AI systems for bias across protected characteristics and work to address disparities in outcomes.

5

Data Governance

We maintain strict standards for training data quality, provenance, and consent to ensure our models are built on ethically sourced data.

6

Continuous Monitoring

We monitor AI systems in production to detect emerging issues, performance degradation, or unintended behaviors.

4. Prohibited Uses

In alignment with our ethical principles, we prohibit the use of Cortiqa AI systems for the following purposes:

  • Generating content that promotes violence, hatred, or discrimination.
  • Creating non-consensual intimate imagery or content that exploits minors.
  • Developing autonomous weapons or systems designed to cause harm.
  • Mass surveillance or tracking of individuals without consent or legal basis.
  • Manipulating individuals through deceptive practices or disinformation.
  • Circumventing legal safeguards or enabling illegal activities.
  • Making automated decisions with significant legal or life-altering consequences without human oversight.

Users who violate these prohibitions are subject to immediate account termination and may be reported to appropriate authorities.

5. Governance and Oversight

Cortiqa maintains robust governance structures to ensure ongoing adherence to our ethical commitments:

Ethics Review Board

An internal committee responsible for reviewing AI projects, setting ethical guidelines, and advising on complex ethical questions.

External Advisory

We engage with external experts, academics, and stakeholders to incorporate diverse perspectives into our ethical framework.

Incident Response

Clear processes for investigating and responding to reported ethical concerns, harms, or failures in our AI systems.

Regular Reporting

We publish periodic transparency reports detailing our progress on ethical commitments and any significant incidents.

6. Reporting Concerns

We encourage users, researchers, and the public to report any ethical concerns, observed biases, or safety issues related to our AI systems. All reports are reviewed by our Ethics Review Board.

7. Commitment to Continuous Improvement

AI ethics is an evolving field. As our understanding of the societal impacts of AI deepens and as best practices emerge, we commit to continuously improving our ethical framework and practices.

We participate in industry collaborations, academic research, and policy discussions to contribute to the broader responsible AI ecosystem and to incorporate learnings into our own work.

This AI Ethics Policy represents our current commitments and may be updated as our practices evolve. By using Cortiqa services, you acknowledge our ethical approach to AI development and agree to use our services in accordance with these principles.
